What a wonderful Wildlife Garden – here in Thame

The wonderful thing about this garden is that it has something for every creature. The small pond which has reeds throughout is abundant in frogs and nearby toads appear frequently too. Hedgehogs have visited regularly and now the garden boasts 2 new hedgehog houses to encourage the visitors to hibernate or nurture their young.

Most importantly this garden connects with the gardens around.

Susannah is keen to protect our environment and talks to the neighbours along the street to try to get them to join in. To share their gardens with wildlife to help provide more space for creatures to thrive.

Have you noticed that your car windscreen never needs cleaning of insects ? 50 years ago we used to have to stop on long journeys to clear the screen to allow the journey to continue – even with windscreen washers going.

There are loads of articles to read like this one : Nature crisis: ‘Insect apocalypse’ more complicated than thought – BBC News – the decline is constant – but there is hope.

So if we all start to do something to help maybe we can be part of the solution.

If you would like a garden assessment by one of our volunteers, we can share ideas of what you can do to help the creatures find homes and thrive. Contact us on [email protected].
