Neglected flower bed revived at Lord Williams’s

During February 2024 a neglected bed in a large concrete courtyard at Lord Williams’s Lower school in Thame, Oxfordshire has been planted with 2 silver birches and various shrubs and grasses.  Our aim is to cool the concrete area and also provide a wildlife-friendly area with fruits for birds and an area to encourage insects.

Thanks to our top soil donor, the support of 21st Century Thame and the volunteers.

Funds from Upper School Eco club were used.

There are plans for a seating area around the bed in the future.

From 21st Century Thame : we would like to thank Kate Paver for all her hard work in getting permissions to plant and the teams together to make this happen. Without people like Kate Thame would become more and more a concrete jungle.
