Fantastic hedge planting morning at Lenthall Green (just before Storm Bert arrived!).
350 whips were planted to join up existing limited and patchy hedging, the first part of our proposed transformation of the ‘green desert’ that it presently is into a much richer environment for wildlife and community enjoyment.
Further stages will include: infill of the hedge we planted today with a richer variety of native hedging species to offer optimal food and shelter for wildlife; planting location-suitable shrubs in the remaining unhedged areas; light landscaping with trees including community fruit trees, and gradual creation of meadow-like areas in the non-recreational zones.
