After raising awareness about Thame being a haven for hedgehogs at Taste of Thame, Thame Carnival and Barley Hill Primary School Summer Fete we already have over 40 people who are joining us to be Thame Hedgehog Street Champions.
The role is simply to chat to neighbours about the Hedgehog Highway Project to encourage them to make their gardens Hedgehog friendly, connect their gardens to the neighbours to allow Hedgehogs to move freely through safe environments and to generally be aware that gardens are needed by wildlife !
We hope to send emails to the Thame Hedgehog Street Champions on a regular basis with the latest campaign e.g. giving away water bowls for free to encourage leaving water safely for the hogs – kindly sponsored by BP Collins LLP. We will provide information in digital and paper format and other offers to help encourage more involvement.
We have a project team who are making hedgehog houses and are available to make holes in fences and possibly walls if any of your neighbours need help.
