Thame has a new snake

Thame has a new snake! Well, we think it must be the first ever rattlesnake planted with yellow rattle, thanks to Jack and Gemma from Richardsons Chartered Accountants and a wonderful chequerboard by Daniel and John from Kubota as business volunteers.

Yellow rattle suppresses grass growth so it can allow a greater variety of plant life and wildflower species to emerge when the grass is left long in a meadow-like area. We will be trying this out at Lenthall Green for the coming year and look forward to seeing what happens – don’t worry, the bare patches won’t be bare for long, but we’ll have to wait until spring to summer for some action.

Well done to all 4 volunteers for amazing turf-cutting and rolling skills plus the ingenious snake design which we hope the children will like. We’ll be doing some more tree planting in Thame’s parks in the New Year so as always drop us a line if you want to get involved as a community or business volunteer or if your business would like to sponsor our work.

Thank you @Lea Park Residents’ Association for kindly donating all the stakes for signage, to Kubota Tractor Corporation and Richardsons Chartered Accountants for releasing staff to help, Thame Town Council and SODC for support and grant-funding projects, John Morris for expert advice, nearby residents for support and interest in the project, and last but definitely not least our brilliant business sponsors:

Lucy Electric, Lightfoots Solicitors and BP Collins Solicitors.
