The start of a seed harvest and grow project

We’ve launched the #ThameTrees Tree seed harvesting project by picking up 30 acorns from a family garden. The ‘seeds’ are already germinating so they’ve been put into pots of compost and will be nurtured for the next few years to result in upto 30 new Oak Trees.

The rules for applying for grants of free trees have been changing over the past couple of years. All grants for free trees now need to be planted on public or community land. So the Tree seed harvesting, the hard wood cutting and the self seeded sapling projects are designed to give us plenty of free trees that can be planted in private land.

#ThameTrees is keen to plant trees anywhere and everywhere. So we are looking for ways of making it as easy as possible for anyone and everyone to plant trees where they have permission to do so.

If you are interested in helping plant more trees in and around Thame then please do contact [email protected].

Thanks to Alison and Peter for kicking of the Tree seed harvesting project with these acorns.
